Welcome to CREEPS FROM THE CRYPT
The Rule Guide
The Rule Guide
1. The vast majority of this RP will be taking place on the associated discord server. The only exceptions will be in relation to character profiles, bits of lore, and the likes, which will be maintained here for the purposes of circumventing Discord's character limit, as well as neatly keeping profiles together and allowing the embed of images and music if so is your preference. If you are confused as to what discord server I am referring to, you're not supposed to be here. Please leave. We are all here to have fun.
2. I will have to require members to register or login, I ask that you put your guest username as your discord username so that I can identify whose material belongs to who. Anything not belonging to a member known to me will be deleted. Please notify me of any posts from someone you do not recognize either through here or via the discord, preferably the latter. We are all here to have fun.
3. Please follow the TOS and keep things out of the realm of the NSFW on this site to the best of your ability. Yes, your character might have a tragic past due to the nature of this RP, yes, you can absolutely tell us without going into graphic detail about the minutiae of every such event in their backstory. We are all here to have fun.
4. Please follow all rules found on the Discord in the Forum, and vice versa. We are all here to have fun.
5. Please do not post until your profile has been approved by me. If you are confused as to who is the administrator of "Creeps From The Crypt", you're likely not supposed to be here. Relatedly, you can link me to your profile on Discord via DM so that I may approve it as quickly as possible. We are all here to have fun.
6. This RP will not rely on stats. However, please be logical. Your character that is a 90lbs, 5' nothing, bookworm with asthma, probably cannot uppercut a 6'2", 200lbs, musclebound military officer to the ground with ease, if at all. Use common sense. We are all here to have fun.
7. Do not harass other players. Respect them, the admin, and the role-play. We are all here to have fun.
7.5. Your character is not an extension of you, it is a medium through which you partake in the RP, I will ignore complaints that someone has been mean to your character whilst playing their own character. However, I will frown upon insulting someone else's character OOC. We are all here to have fun.
7.5.5. Please acknowledge the "Comfort Zone" section of a player's character profile before enacting a scene with them. We are all mature adults - seriously, we're supposed to all be mature adults - so some unsavory subject matter can be handled with maturity so long as it benefits the story. However, again, we are all here to have fun. If someone does not feel comfortable playing out their character being maimed, disfigured, or sexually assaulted, pump the break on your desire to visit such things upon their character as much as you may think it would be good for theirs or yours' character development. We are all here to have fun.
8. Please acknowledge your limits as a role-player. I am perfectly fine with you playing multiple characters if you're willing to go through the trouble of making a profile for each of them, awaiting their individual approvals, and keeping them all active. I think it's unreasonable to ask of people to post on a daily basis, but if you're not one hundred percent sure you can handle posting at least once a week with each of them; consider pumping the breaks on making another character until you've killed one of your past characters off. We are all here to have fun.
8.5. Please make sure a character has served its purpose before killing it off. I completely understand the urge to play this new concept that popped into your mind, I respect the desire to create new characters and watch them evolve, but keep in mind this is not only your story to tell. If you plan on killing off a character, please at least ask the other players if they had any plans relating to them. You can have a civil conversation about whether or not the character has been dried out of its potential. Maybe you can have that scenario happen with the new character that will replace them? Don't just pull the rug under other people's plans without a bit of a chat. We are all here to have fun.
8.5.5. Parallel and complimentary to the above, make sure someone is willing to go through an arc with your character before making long-term plans. Yes, I am sure your character and another players' character could be cute together if you both put in the effort to flesh out such a relationship, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're down to date your character. I get where you're coming from thinking this character would look cool with a chainsaw for a hand, but the player might not like having their PC's hand chopped off without warning. Consent is important. We are all here to have fun.
9. When it comes to changes to your character, I am all for them, but please; for the love of all that is holy, keep your profiles updated whenever something noteworthy happens. I'm not asking you to keep track of every round in every gun and how many rations they've eaten, but it might be worth noting if they lose a leg, turn homicidal, shave their head, become a zombie, or other noteworthy changes. It makes it easier for everyone to keep track. We are all here to have fun.
9.5. I'm all for private moments, sometimes it just feels wrong to have this mega intimate scene between two characters happen where all can see, and sometimes it's cool to hatch a plan with your partner in crime where others are unaware. However, I am not an all-seeing eye. If your character dies, or undergoes some change, please let me know. We are all here to have fun.
10. I think we are all for cool moments. I love them, you love them, but try to keep things semi-grounded, as much as is possible given this insane setting. MacGyvering weapons is fun, killing a bunch of zombies is fun, celebratory make-out sessions at base after hauling a huge amount of resources to safety is fun, but ultimately; while there is magic and zombies, this is leaning more towards action horror than heroic fantasy. Sometimes, people get hurt, sometimes, you fail at what you were attempting, sometimes, it's not possible to save the school bus of children in the middle of the zombie horde, and most of the time, it's not possible to make a lightsaber out of a flashlight, a taser gun, a forklift motor and a roll of scotch tape. The theme and events of the RP do not have to be all dark all the time, but the fact that danger could be lurking around the corner at any given moment should permeate through the story. Keep the themes consistent. We are all here to have fun.
11. I, the admin, reserve the right to punish anyone for breaking the rules. This can go from in-character to out-of-character punishments. If you wish to avoid them, follow the rules, I will not abuse this power; we are all here to have fun.
12. If you are not sure whether or not something constitutes a rule breach, my DMs are ALWAYS open. Do not hesitate to ask, we are all here to have fun.
13. Have fun. We are all here to have it.
